Bio

Dr. Em M. Pijl teaches a variety of courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge. Her community health nursing practice background includes working with inner city populations who live at risk, use substances and are HIV/HCV positive. Em holds degrees from the University of British Columbia (post-diploma BScN), the University of Calgary (MEd), and the University of Alberta (PhD). 

Dr. Pijl utilizes quantitative and mixed research methods. Her program of research focuses on homeless, substance-using, and at-risk populations, and on moral distress in clinical practice. She also has expertise in program evaluation and competence assessment.
