Lauren is working towards her PhD in which she is investigating the combined effects of microplastics and metals in freshwater systems. Lauren analyzes the interactions of metals with microplastics, their potential toxicity to a variety of freshwater organisms, and the movement of these microplastic-metal complexes throughout ecosystems.
