My primary research project right now is the way the Internet is transforming the character of democratic citizenship in Canada. I am the principal investigator of a project funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities and Research Council of Canada that is conducting survey research into this question in Canada. My co-investigators in this project are Dr. Royce Koop (University of Manitoba), Dr. Tamara Small (University of Guelph), Dr. Frédéric Bastien (Université de Montréal) and Dr. Thierry Giasson (Université Laval).

Prior to this project, Dr. Lisa Young (University of Calgary) and I cooperated on a study of the changes to Canada's party finance laws and the way they were altering the character of Canadian political parties and the patterns of competition between them. I still do a little bit of work on political party finance in Canada.

I also have a continued interest in Alberta politics and its unique party system.
