I study sexual selection, primarily using singing insects (e.g. crickets, katydids, hump-winged grigs) as model organisms. I am interested in a number of topics including the evolution of male weaponry, the evolution of tradeoffs between important life history traits such as reproductive effort and survival, and the interaction between ecological factors and the strength of sexual selection.
