Bio

I was born and raised in Alberta (Edmonton, Calgary), and lived in Ottawa and Toronto for 15 years. 

I received my BA (Hons., 1993) at the University of Calgary and my MA (1998) from Carleton University. I completed my PhD in Sociology & Equity Studies in Education (2008, OISE/UT), and joined the department of Women & Gender Studies at the University of Lethbridge in July 2008. 

In the years between my academic degrees, I have worked for a number of grassroots and non-profit organizations including (but not limited to):  Public Education Coordinator and Crisis Line Coordinator for the Ottawa Rape Crisis Centre; researcher for the National Anti-Poverty Organization.
